Sturgeon County has always been my home. I was born and raised here, and this is where my wife and I raised our two sons. My roots are here, and so is my commitment to Division 3.
I am proud of my Métis roots as a descendant of the Michel Band, Treaty Six. My family has farmed, worked, and built businesses in this county for generations. I graduated from Sturgeon Composite High and studied at the University of Alberta. Most of my career has been in business and security. Protecting people. Solving problems. Earning trust.
I also represented Sturgeon County on many boards. These included the Roseridge Waste Management Services Commission, the River Valley Alliance, and Edmonton Global. Provincially, I served on Alberta Environment committees for red tape reduction and gravel extraction. Nationally, I was proud to be the first Councillor from Sturgeon County appointed to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. I spoke up for rural broadband, rural crime prevention, and municipal infrastructure at the federal level.
Here are some of the things I am proud of from my time on council:
I have always believed in moving dirt once and doing things right. Whether it is roads, drainage, or development, we need to plan carefully so future generations benefit from the work we do today.
Division 3 is built on farms, acreages, and rural communities. I know the issues here because I live them. My focus has always been local. Fire protection. Drainage. Security. Broadband. Keeping our land and water healthy.
That is the voice I will bring back to council. Steady. Practical. And focused on Division 3.

 Good evening everyone.
I’m Wayne Bokenfohr, and I served as your Division 3 Councillor from 2013 to 2021.
When I look back on that time, what I’m most proud of isn’t politics; it’s the groundwork that made real progress possible. The kind that continues long after you leave office.
I listened to residents and built a plan to turn their ideas into action.
My parents always told me: plan your work, then work your plan. That advice still drives me today. VISION is seeing years ahead and having the discipline to start now.
Take the Drainage Improvement Fund I spearheaded.
After seeing the same roads flood year after year (costing taxpayers money every spring) I acted.
That fund turned one-off fixes into a long-term plan, getting ahead of the problem instead of chasing it.
Our residents and businesses needed better roads.
I listened, I lobbied, and I delivered.
Projects like the paving of Meadowview Drive, Campsite Road, and Township 544 came from a plan I helped put in place, ensuring priority roads got built, not just promised.
With my background in security and risk management, I also knew high-speed internet would soon be essential: for safety, education, family businesses, and everyday life.
That’s why in 2021, I advanced motions that laid the groundwork for the fiber network residents enjoy today.
BUT what of our future?
People across the County are ready for change.
They want leadership with vision, experience, and a proven track record.
They want responsible development that respects our rural lifestyle.
They want real transparency, where decisions are explained before they’re made.
And they want leadership they can trust.
Growth is coming to Sturgeon County whether we plan for it or not.
The choice is to manage it or be shaped by it.
That’s why we must plan now for another fire hall in Villeneuve.
It will allow near-immediate response to our seniors home, West County Hearth, and the Villeneuve Airport.
It will also lower insurance costs for residents and businesses.
Having already brought water, sewer, and fiber to the airport, the final piece is fire protection, which will unlock development and job opportunities right here in Division 3.
I believe in growth that benefits residents, supports agriculture, and protects our watersheds.
There’s a lot of static out there, but I’m tuned into Sturgeon.
If you want progress without politics, I ask for your support.
